Types of Dental Emergencies We Treat
Dental emergencies can happen anytime and often cause significant pain or distress. Pearl Palm Beach Dental treats a wide range of urgent dental situations promptly.
Severe Toothache
A severe toothache creates intense, throbbing pain that makes it hard to eat, sleep, or concentrate. This usually signals infection or deep decay reaching your tooth's nerve. We can diagnose the cause and provide immediate relief.
Knocked-Out Tooth
When a tooth gets completely knocked out from trauma or injury, quick action is essential. You may feel shock and see bleeding from the empty socket.
Dental Abscess
A dental abscess creates a painful, swollen bump on your gums filled with pus. You might taste something bitter or feel facial swelling. These infections can spread quickly, so we treat them as urgent medical situations.
Cracked Tooth
A broken tooth can be painful and sensitive to temperature. If left untreated, it can lead to infection or further damage. We repair the tooth using strong materials that restore comfort and natural function.
Lost Dental Crowns
When a dental crown comes loose, the tooth underneath is left unprotected and sensitive. We clean the area and replace your restoration to seal and strengthen the tooth, keeping your smile pain-free.
Soft Tissue Injuries
Cuts or injuries to your gums, tongue, or lips can bleed and feel sore. We gently clean and treat the wound, stop the bleeding, and make sure there is no hidden damage so you can heal comfortably and quickly.
What to Expect During Your Emergency Dental Visit

When you arrive, our priority is to relieve your discomfort and identify the cause of the problem as quickly as possible. Your visit typically begins with a comprehensive examination and digital X-rays to accurately diagnose your condition and determine the most appropriate treatment. Once we’ve evaluated your oral health, we’ll discuss your treatment options, and answer any questions you may have so you can make informed decisions about your care.
Depending on your needs, treatment may be provided during the same visit whenever possible to help relieve pain, address the underlying issue, and protect your long-term oral health. Our team is committed to providing prompt, compassionate care in a comfortable environment, helping you feel supported from the moment you walk through our doors.

Frequently Asked Questions
My tooth is throbbing and I can't sleep. What do I do?
Call us first thing in the morning. We see emergency patients Monday through Thursday starting at 7:00 AM. In the meantime, ibuprofen can take the edge off, and a cold pack on your cheek in 10-minute intervals helps with swelling. Do not put heat on it.
I chipped my tooth and it has a sharp edge cutting my tongue. Is that an emergency?
Yes, come in. A jagged edge can lacerate soft tissue and the underlying crack may be deeper than it looks. Call us and we will get you seen the same day.
My crown fell off. Do I need to come in right away?
Call us so we can assess it. If there is no pain and the tooth is intact, it may not be urgent, but you should not leave it uncovered for long. If there is sensitivity or discomfort, treat it as urgent and come in the same day.
A tooth was knocked out. Is it too late to save it?
Not necessarily, but you need to act fast. Hold the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently and try to place it back in the socket. If you can't, keep it in milk or between your cheek and gum. The sooner you get in, the better the chances.
My face is swollen on one side. Should I go to the ER or a dentist?
If the swelling is affecting your ability to breathe or swallow, go to the ER right away. If it is localized swelling with tooth pain, it is likely a dental infection and we need to see you today. Do not wait on a swollen jaw.
