Claire’s Lingering Toothache Mystery
Claire had been nursing a dull ache in her back molar for weeks. It wasn't constant, but it was persistent enough to be annoying, a low throb that flared up after her morning coffee or an afternoon snack. She tried to ignore it, telling herself it was probably just sensitivity or that she was imagining things. After all, she brushed and flossed diligently every day.
She even confided in her friend, Nicole, during their weekly coffee catch-up. "It's the strangest thing," Claire explained, pressing a finger to her cheek. "It doesn't look like anything's wrong, but it just feels off." Nicole, always practical, suggested she finally make an appointment, reminding Claire that ignoring dental issues rarely makes them disappear.
Claire had always been a little apprehensive about dental visits, especially the thought of X-rays. She remembered the bulky lead apron and the brief, strange sensation from childhood appointments. "What if they find something awful?" she'd worried to herself, but the discomfort was starting to outweigh her anxiety.
